H1B Visas are not allocated by state. It's not any harder to get an H1B Visa in California as it is in New York. If what you meant is having difficulty finding a job in California that qualifies for an H1B Visa sponsorship, then that is probably true, but again that only reflects the fact that the job climate even for specialized nurses is not very favorable at the current time. There are jobs for experienced nurses but the competition is much more tight because there are also many qualified nurses who are looking for the same job or position especially in California.

Thanks for reply
I understand this, I was asking about California specifically as I have passed the NCLEX for this state.
I am aware that nurses in the US are also having difficulty finding employment due to the current economic climate.
I was posting with the hope that someone may have gained sponsorship recently as I do not want to be apart from my husband.
However it is looking like I have answered my own question and that is, H1B sponsorship is virtually impossible

Hey Guys,
Just wondering about the possibility of H1B sponsorship in California.
I am a Tissue Viability nurse ( Wound Care, Bsc) and have passed the Nlcex for the state.
My husband is a LPR, so I am awaiting my GC. Unfortunately due to retrogression this is going to take up to three years or more. So in order for us not to be apart for this period I was hoping to get a H1B in the mean time..... This however seems virtually impossible.
I was just wondering if anyone else has been successful in gaining sponsorship in the last few months...
Thanks!
