Hello Ohio nurses and student nurses. I was born there in Columbus, and have family there still. I now live in Metro Detroit and am applying to nursing school. I have all of my pre req's and most of my co req's done. I was curious if there were a large amount of applicants trying to get in nursing schools in Ohio? There are just thousands of applicants here in Michigan. I think partly because we have been hit so bad by the poor economy here and so very many people are out of work here. I read on other states that some nursing schools have just as many applicants as here in Michigan. Some do not. I was wondering how things were in Ohio. I could move there if I found a great school to get in to for my nursing training. I have over 50 college credits now, and feel I am so close to finishing. Does anyone know any thing about the Toledo/Bowling Green areas and the Columbus/Chillicothe areas? These cities are where my family live. I am not a traditional student, I am almost 41 years old with a husband and kids, but would relocate if I found a really good program in Ohio. By the way has Ohio been hit as hard as Michigan with the job situation? There is no work here in Michigan unless you have a high degree and many years in experience in some white collar job. My husband is a welder and also has done mostly factory work. Those jobs are gone here in Michigan. A lot of our friends are moving out of state and you would not believe all the houses up for sale and in foreclosure. I was just wondering if Ohio has been hit like that also. Well thanks for reading, and hope you have some good news about the nursing school situation.
