Is consent order permanent on your license

I'm waiting to get my consent order, I'm in Ga & it's public. Does anyone know if it stays on your license forever? Or is it removed once you complete probation? Thanks!!

Yes and No depending on how we define "Stays on your license forever."

1. Since your case is public, YES, any state board with nursys access can see it forever and so can the public if they know how to go to GA BON website and search your license by name, and it will show something to the effect of "Board Actions" where one can click that link and a PDF or something opens up which is your exact consent order. So, yes to that question.

2. The public and other state Boards will see additional info in the Board Actions section showing your case is closed/license restored/unencumbered once you complete the consent order. So, they can see the Good also and in this sense, the consent order is now resolved and Not on your active license, but people can still see the past (and the present update showing your consent order is now over).

3. Since your discipline is public, yes, you will need to explain this for the rest of your career (even after consent order and monitoring is over with) because employers from human resources, colleges, and other BONs can easily see it on Nursys System, but again, they will also be able to see the good part which is showing the update after you finish the consent order/monitoring that your license is no longer under consent order and now unencumbered which clues them in that you went through a recovery program which is good.

4. Seems like a big deal right now? Correct? Well, You are going to be shocked how its not a huge deal or showstopper once you finish monitoring/consent order and you tell your recovery story to employers in the future. It is actually going to SOMETIMES work in your favor as they see a good recovery, get off of the mat, comeback story.

5. If you are worried about number 4 and "how in the world will you share this with others or future employers," then you now have a good idea of what you need to work on in recovery. Get comfortable with number 4 above and your ability to share, not do secrets, not worry about "who knows about your background. Be Agressive with your recovery and don't give a dam# about who knows. When you get to that level and that mindset, you are well on your way and advancing well along the path of recovery and in good shape.

6. Constant worry about "who knows about your past" and you figuring out how you will "keep it a secret," is almost automatic for relapse. It's not 100 percent automatic, but the numbers go completely through the roof when you still reside in the ole "game of secrets." The game of keeping secrets is part of addiction. It's what addicts do when they are using. Get secrets out of your system. Have ZERO shame for your past. Have ZERO ego. In order to worry so much about "what others think of your past" it means there are Some ego problems and ego problems equal relapse.

7. You got this. Good Luck.

8. I know your question was simply asking about whether a public consent order can be seen for the rest of your career and I added to your question with a lengthy answer because if the lengthy answer does not apply to you, you can guarantee it will apply to someone reading which is what we do in recovery. We help out as many people as possible and my answer above will apply to someone either now, or in the future reading this forum.
