Is this an appropriate request of doctors I work with?

I am leaving my nursing position in Public Health and do not have a new nursing position lined up yet. Is it appropriate to ask the doctors that I work with to please keep me in mind should they hear of any nurse openings amongst their colleagues in Private Practice, and provide them with my cell phone number?

Yes, it's entirely appropriate to ask the doctors you work with in Public Health to keep you in mind for potential nurse openings in private practice. Networking with colleagues is a great way to uncover job opportunities, especially if you want something new.

When reaching out, keep your request professional and concise. Here's a suggestion for how you might phrase it:

Dear [Doctor's Name],

I hope you're doing well. As I transition out of my current position in Public Health, I'm exploring new opportunities in private practice. If you happen to hear of any nursing openings that might be a good fit, I would greatly appreciate it if you could keep me in mind. Feel free to share my contact information with colleagues who may be looking for a nurse.

Thank you so much for your support, and I look forward to staying in touch.

Best regards,
[Your Full Name]

Here's the thing. You have nothing to lose, and they decide whether to act on your request. Networking is the top way to find opportunities.

Very best wishes and good luck!
