I recently passed my RN licensure in Florida and was over the moon! I thought that the NCLEX and nursing school was going to be the hardest part of starting my career. But it seems as though RNs are now a dime a dozen.
I have been an LPN for three years working in acute/long term care. I have also been a member of the Association of Perioperative Nurses for over a year as well as volunteering at Mayo Clinic in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. All of this seems to be of no interest to employers. I realize I live in a city that pumps out new graduates like a factory, so the competition is high.
Just feeling a little down that all my hard work, and I am sure other new grads feel my pain, has been for nothing. I will work any floor...any shift! I ultimately want to become a certified OR nurse...but I know I have to pay my dues and work from the bottom up. I am willing to work!!

Have you tried to apply in hospitals in West Palm Beach?

Im in the same boat. Just graduated and about to take the NCLEX and there are zero jobs. I could barely pay my loans if I get a job as a PCA. I am considering moving because I really want a hospital job (especially to get experience so I can work at other hospitals). Is the whole country like this or just cities with nursing schools or what. Everyone says it will get better but will it? We are still going to have more students. If you hear of any areas or states hiring I'd love to know. I'd look rural personally to get the experience unless you know someone who can get you into a hospital.
