Is there any advantage to "Full Time"?

This may be difficult for me to explain, but I'll do my best. According to my registration guide, the first semester of nursing classes consists of eight classes (Four lecture/theory, Three Nursing Labs, and One elective) for a total of fourteen credits. I already have the electives I need to graduate from changing my major. However, if I were not to take an elective it would bring my credit total down to eleven (not full time).

Here's my question. If I were to take the seven nursing classes for eleven credits would that disadvantage me in anyway? The two scholarships I'm on state I need twenty four hours for every year, and the next semester is thirteen hours. I just don't don't know if there are any other penalties for being part time instead of full time. I would rather have less of a load since it is my first semester, but if it does make a difference I'll have to take a one credit class, like yoga or pilates lol.

Do you get any other financial aid? Pell Grant, etc? You'll often get a decreased amount if you're not carrying 12 credits.

The only things I can think that full-time status would impact would be federal financial aid and possibly qualification for student insurance or student housing.

No, the scholarships I'm on pay for school and housing. Both of them seem to claim that I only need twenty four hours for the year.

I'm going to try and get in touch with them tomorrow to clarify. In the mean time, I'll just register for a 1 credit class I guess.

You only need 6 credits per semester to qualify for financial aid. I can think of more advantages to going part time! I can't imagine doing a full load with the intense nursing core courses and the sciences. Yikes! I did my pre-reqs first and then did the core courses "full time," usually about 9 or 10 credits a semester for the 4 semesters.
