Inver Hills MANE Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! Just thought I'd start a thread here to see who all is applying to Inver Hills for the MANE fall 2017 start! I've turned my application in, now we just have to wait...

Also, what are your plans for nursing school and beyond once in? Continue straight on with Metro (it looks like it's a day program) with the BSN part, take the NCLEX after the 5th semester? Work first before going on for BSN? Just curious what people's plans are. :)

However, before all that, we need to GET IN! Good luck to everyone! Lets start a convo!

Bueller? Bueller? I KNOW I'm not the only one applying. :)

I didn't apply to Inver but I applied to Century, Normandale, and Metro. There is another MANE thread going on here so maybe people are responding there. Anyway, about 4 more weeks to go!

Yes, I saw that (and have been keeping my eye on it. :) ) Thanks for responding, Fefee! Good luck to you!

And as far as plans go, I'm hoping to continue with the BSN program at Metro (why not?). I'll take my NCLEX after the 5th semester though. Did you apply to any other schools?

Well, I tried to apply to Metro, but the counseler there for the nursing went on leave, and I never got a reply (even with emails) about an appeal for a class in time. (I have a previous B.S.) So I ended up only applying to InverHills, which is fine b/c that's where I wanted to go anyway, and I feel pretty confident with my chances. I also plan to take the NCLEX asap, though I suppose that depends how quickly we get the tesing access number and can schedule it (and of course how long you want to study). Initially they told me a lot of people actually do it in the summer (tecninally after the 1st semester of the metro portion). Will see. The only thing that makes me nervous is the ability to work during the metro portion, depending when the classes are offered.

I emailed him too and I got an automated response. I applied anyway. I'm hoping to get into CC though because it will be cheaper and I won't have to wait a year and a half for the NCLEX. I'm an LPN (10yrs) and I have an AA but I recently retook a few of my sciences because of age and better grades. My composite score is different everywhere.

I haven't heard too much about the metro portion but I'm hoping I would be able to work (at least part time) while I do that. It seems like there's a lot of info about the community college portion and not enough about the metro portion.

Agreed! It's FAIRLY new, so that may be part of it, but it's not brand new. I totally agree. I also had to still take a good year+ worth of prereqs due to various reasons. I don't mind too much, I'm happy to get the refresher, but at 38, I'm admittedly impatient! LIke you, I wanted an inexpensive route, though it will take longer in the long run, I can get the actual RN fairly quickly...though it seems we need that BSN for everythign these days (aside form LTC). You will certainly have a leg-up already being an LPN!

They try to limit the amount of hours are spent in class during the Metro portion because they know students want to work, so it's kind of a hybrid thing going on. So, at the campus I'm at we only meet thursdays, and only a handful of times this semester.

but you got plenty of time before you got to worry about metro :)

good luck! I really enjoyed my CC in the MANE program, hope y'all do too!

Thank you Kjr89. It's nice to take a glimpse into the future.:)

Fischek, any news yet? I know sometimes Inver is early with their letters.

No, not yet. I had heard that too so was hopeful, but no one I know had gotten it yet either. I'm hoping this, week!
