Hello everyone. Im TJ, im 19 and im about to start my sophmore year at THE University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). I changed my major to nursing last semester and have really enjoyed the things ive been exposed to so far. Im taking chem I and II this summer so I can catch up on some of the things ive missed. Ive also enjoyed this forum a lot so far in my short time here. I hope to learn more than i already from yall.
My plan is to go to UMC for nursing school, work as a nurse for one year there then go CRNA school at UMC and UAB.
If there are any pointers yall would like to share please let me know. Also, if there are things I can and should be doing to get a leg up it would greatly appreciated.
Thanks again,
TJ

TJ,
I am sure you are busy, but try and get a nurse aide position in the ICU. Get to know your unit well to assist in the transition after school. Also, shadow CRNAs in the OR to get an understanding of the profession. A leg up on the competition...hmmm... Well keep your gpa >3.5, score >1200 on the gre and get great ICU experience.
Good Luck and stay focused
