This is just a vent and I am sure I am not the only one to experience this. It is so frustrating to send in a resume/apply online, get a call back for an interview, they want you to come in within a day or 2. The interview goes well (at least you think it did) and then "crickets". If I am taking the time to interview and moving around my schedule to meet yours please at least be considerate enough to send a quick email just to say you have offered the position to someone else for whatever the reason. This isn't just nursing this is across the board. I mean if they have taken the time to pull my resume and call me in for an interview I would at least appreciate some response. So frustrating when they tell you you should hear from them next week and then nothing!!

sounds like you need to work on your interview skills a little bit. Not to burst your bubble at all. Managers really dont care what your GPA is or even how much you know. They want someone who will work well with the staff and treat the pt/fam well. I guess you have a good resume if you are getting the interview now you have to find a way to show that you have these other skills.
I just moved and had to find a new job in GA and even more impressive to the ICU manager than my experiance at a level 1 trauma ICU was my experiance working for marriott and recieveing a service award two years ago.
I do not think my interview skills have anything to do with not receiving a return phone call and how you would assume that from my post is beyond me. As far as GPA, I am pretty sure I mentioning nothing about my GPA, being at the top of my class at all.
I was just stating that it is frustrating to receive no response after you go in for a interview. A quick email with a thanks but no thanks would be sufficient. At least back in the day you received a letter in snail mail but now even with the technology such as email we do not receive a reply one way or the other and are sometimes left wondering.
Again, how you made the assumptions you did about my interviewing skills and my GPA and resume makes no sense. Maybe you should actually read the post before you respond.
well considering you got the interview I made the assumption that you have a good resume. secondly, I never said anything about your GPA i was simply making the point that its not the most important thing. thirdly their is a last criteria point which is interview skills which is the only place where you seem to not move forward, so I made the assumption that you need to work on that part of the job search.
I did not mean anything mean by it I think you are prolly a great person to hire. I was just making the comment that you may need to find a more effective way of showing that to future employers. but you are correct I dont know you and dont offer the best advice considering others know you and your situation better. but this is blogging and its how it is

I understand! A couple months ago I applied for a care attendant position (like a CNA) at a hospital, just to get my foot in the door considering I haven't worked in over 7 years. I got a call the next day for an interview the following week. The nurse manager seemed to like me and she set up an interview with the night nurse manager because that's the shift I wanted. Went in a week later and interviewed with her and it went great, or so I thought. Never heard anything for about a week. I DID get a letter stating they hired someone else....at least they notified me. It sucks but I hear ya!
Yes it does suck. I really didn't need the job, it was a PRN position I really just wanted to get my foot in the door like you. I too thought things went really well. I work full time in an unrelated field so my guess would be lack of experience although I did meet the criteria needed for the position. I am not upset I didn't get the job although the experience would have wonderful but I just wish I received some response even if they hired someone else.
