Interviewing A Nurse : Assignment

Published

Hi everyone! I have an assignment where I have to interview a nurse. I came up with some questions and it would be greatly appreciated if any nurse answered them!

1. How long have you been a nurse for?

2. What inspired you to become a nurse?

3. How many years did it take for you to become a nurse?

4. Were there any hesitations before you committed to becoming a nurse?

5. Are there any moments you wish you had taken a different career path?

6. What are the challenges of being a nurse?

7. What is a typical workday as a nurse like?

8. What are the differences between the different types of nurses? For example: RN, LPN, & CNA

9. What are some of the roles you have worked in healthcare?

10. When you were in school to become a nurse, how many unpaid shifts did you have to take? What tasks did you have to perform as a student nurse?

11. What was the hardest part in school when becoming a nurse?

12. Do you get a set/stable work schedule or does your job require you to come in randomly (for example you have to work overnight shifts one week and day shifts the next)

13. Does your job affect your personal well-being? If the answer is yes, can you tell me why?

14. Do you think your job affects any personal relationships?

15. Is there a lot of pressure in your job? Give me an example of one situation, if possible.

16. Do you think this job is financially worth it? Is it stable?

17. How do you/did you keep yourself healthy whilst becoming and working as a nurse?

18. Do you consider this job as demanding?

19. How do you remember every medical fact?

Thank you to anyone responding :))

Good morning, welcome to AllNurses! I would encourage you to change your username to something other than your name; for privacy and anonymity.

Regarding your assignment, I highly recommend you reach out to people in your life or network that are registered nurses. In an anonymous online forum it can be difficult to determine if the person on the other end actually has the qualifications you are looking for.

Also, I believe you might get more bang for your buck if you ask more open ended questions such as "Tell me about a time that was especially challenging during nursing school and how you overcame that challenge". Yes or no questions aren't conducive to a good interview.

Best of luck!

These are a lot of questions, and time consuming.  Many of us work in different roles, some as Educators, Hospital, Clinic, Transport, etc.

Some may not want to post because if there are some details  could reveal a poster.

Also, CNAs are not Nurses, they are a Certified Nursing Assistant.  While the role is valuable they are not licensed in the way an RN and LPN are.

Things may vary state to state.

Maybe create a link so someone if they want to answer can do so anonymously.

You will not be able to verify if someone is actually a Nurse as this is an anonymous discussion board.  While I get most people will be honest, you couldn't verify.

You would have to state that you obtained your data from an anonymous internet source.
