Interview Tips

I haven't posted since I had a question on CNA program entrance exams, since then I did the program, graduated, became certified June 20th officially and now I have my first interview this Tuesday at an area hospital that I really, really want! I have heard some hospitals give you a test as part of the interview and just wanted to know what kind of things they test. I figured maybe vitals signs and I&O's. Anything else I should review? Any other interview tips, it's been a long time since I have had an interview (stay at home mom since 2006). I'm so nervous and I really want this job!

My interview had the usual questions like: Why do you want to work at this specific facility, why should we choose you over the other candidates, tell us your strengths and weaknesses, give us a situation where you dealt with a difficult patient, tell us a story where you went above and beyond for a patient, where do you see yourself in 1year/5 years. I did get a couple of questions like: Can you give a patient anything they want to drink if they have CHF? How do you take a manual BP? It was a typical run of the mill interview with random application questions sprinkled in, but not too many.

Good luck and let us know how it went!

The interview went really well! I go back tomorrow night during the PM shift for a peer interview. The nurse manager didn't have any PCT's there that have ever done a peer interview, otherwise she would have done it today, but this way I will be talking with those that will work the same shift as I will so that should be good. They gave me all the hospital orientation information and salary info so I hope that means it's looking good! It's such a great opportunity for a newbie CNA like myself, I would be working on Peds, and also floating to PICU which is the same floor, just down the hall so I am excited, trying not to get my hopes all up, but it seems to be going good!
