Interview presentations?

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Has anyone ever had to do a presentation as part of an interview? They have told me they want to know about me, but how much personal information should be included to still be professional?

The rest of the requirements are focused on the job.

I've never had to do a presentation before, so any help would be appreciated!

Thanks! :)

What type of job is it? Is it a teaching job? Is the topic of the presentation supposed to be about you? Are you supposed to do a PowerPoint or have other audio-visuals? etc.

I would clarify their expectations before going much further. Assuming that they just want you to spend 5-10 minutes telling them about yourself ... I would use my resume/vitae as a handout. I would give them just the basic personal information (where I grew up, went to school, etc.) and then include the types of things I would highlight in a cover letter or interview -- emphasizing aspects of my professional life (not personal life) that made me a good fit for the job.
