Interview in oral surgery center-pay, sedation responsibilities, etc

Specialties Ambulatory

I have an interview for an oral surgery practice here in my city. There are a few oral surgery practices here as well as many regular dental offices offering some similar services. There are hundreds of RN jobs around the area, so its competitive for these places to hire a qualified RN.

I want to negotiate pay and have no idea whats reasonable except to compare to my current job in acute care! I get paid 28.48, but will receive a pay raise for 1 year service and cost of living next month, making it around 29.50.

I have a BSN, 1 year fulltime experience in a very busy Advanced Care Unit/Progressive Care Unit. In addition have a few more years of patient care from being a nursing assistant and a nurse tech while in school. Im ACLS certified as well and have IV start experience.

Im wondering what pay all you RNs receive in any ambulatory surgery setting? What was your responsibility as an RN? And did you administer conscious sedation? If so, what was your responsibility with that skill and any advice?

Thank you so much!

Generally, pay in outpatient settings is lower than in inpatient acute settings, so that may have to be something you take into consideration. On the flip side, outpatient settings frequently don't have weekend or holiday requirements and tend to be day shift only. Have you tried looking at websites that provide average salaries information? Indeed is one that I've found lets you adjust your search based on years of experience and (if they have enough information) specialty.
