Hi, I am just wondering what questions might pop up in an OR RN intern interview. I am a new grad in May and I have no experience in OR. I am currently working in the med/surg floor.
I am wondering if I need to prepare myself and learn a lot of stuff about OR before my interview? Besides team work, what are the important criteria to be a good OR nurse?
Any reply will help. Thanks.

Hi,
I think some important traits for an OR RN would be the ability to remain calm under pressure, the ability to prioritize (when you have an anesthesiologist, a surgeon and the scrub nurse all asking you for something different at the same time), good time management skills (time is money... must always think ahead), and as you already stated, teamwork is huge. My personality seems to fit OR very well, I'm ultra orgainzed and almost OCD Oh, and it helps if you're good with equipment! There's tons of equipment in the OR and you constantly have to trouble shoot.
I think OR is the BEST place to work. Good luck in your interview
