Hello I am a RN and I currently work in a rehab at a LTC facility!! I have 22 residents that I have to pass meds on, do treatments and admissions!! I applied for a newborn nursery position at a local hospital and I had been calling the manager for a month and she finally let me get a interview!! I think the interview went well!! She asked about me, why I went into nursing and if I got along with people well!! She really gave me a a lot of info about the unit!! She let me meet the staff and showed me around the unit...labor and delivery, nursery, and postpartum!! I think she really like me but she said that she had two more interviews, does that mean that she didn't like me!! She also tol me she would call with her decision by Wednesday!! Does everyone get to meet staff and see the unit??

Wish me luck!!

It depends on the manager whether they show you around, but probably a good sign. If you haven't already sent a thank you note I would do that ASAP to keep yourself in the front of her mind.

One interview I went on the NM did not show me around but offered me the position a few days later.. Another interview the NM showed me around and had a small meet and greet with the staff, she offered me the job while I was still there.. It could be a good sign. If she said she would call Wed.. try and wait it out but do what above said, send a Thank you note !!! Good luck...

I know pretty much right away if I like the person and I'm going to hire her, but if there are other applicans I have to run through them- been burned by hiring someone who seems perfect. Meeting the staff and touring the unit though? My guess is you're in.

You need to send thank-you letters to the nurse recruiter and the unit manager ASAP. Better to send them late than never. You should also call the recruiter Monday. This will keep your name fresh in the hospital's mind.

Try not to focus on the fact the manager had to interview others. Part of the Equal Opportunity Act is that all people who have been selected for the interview process must be interviewed.

Thank you all for the input, I will keep u all posted!! I do plan to send a thank you note!! I just don't know how to stay calm and wait til Wednesday!!

At my hospital it is policy to show you around the floor and introduce you to staff. It is a way to see how you interact with people. I wouldn't read much into that, but more into the fact that she really liked you! I went on an interview where I toured and met, but when she actually interviewed me, she barely asked me anything. Red flag. I found out later she hired the first person she interviewed. I was the last. Needless to say, her mind was made up before I got there and she was just going through the motions!

Good luck!
