Interview for hospital CNA position need HELP!

Nursing Students CNA/MA

So after working diligently (lots of phone calls to HR) to get a hospital job I finally have an interview! Some background on me I have only been working as a CNA for a little over a month now in assisted living night shift. Working in AL I don't really do much, I help people to the bathroom, change products, and take vitals if someone falls. I'm on the state registry, and I have my bachelors in biology. I'm doing interviews for medical school right now (yay!) and I want to gain as much experience and practical knowledge as possible before I start med school next fall. For all you ladies who have jobs as a hospital CNA what are they going to ask me at the job interview? My interview for AL was sooo laid back that it really didn't give me much practice at all. What should I expect? I would ideally like to work as an ER tech which is one of the positions I applied for. How do I prepare for this interview and convince them to choose me?

I can only speak from my experience. I would just communicate to them that you are a diligent worker who is interested in learning as much as possible and you are eager to get started. I don't know if I would mention to them that you are eager to up and go to medical school and plan to soon, they may not want to hire someone they know is leaving soon. Maybe just tell them you really love the medical field and want to someday continue on in your education.

I too worked in AL for about a month before getting hired in a hospital. The AL job was a piece of cake but I knew I would never further myself by working there. I love my hospital job but there are days it gets absolutely nuts. I work on an admitting floor so we never usually have enough staff. But other than that I love it.

i recently was in you shoes, very diligant about getting into a hospital for my cna job, i didn't want to work in a nursing home, only because personally i believe that a hospital enviornment will give me many more learning opportunities and prepare me for actual r.n. work better than a nursing home. i applied for probably 40 or more cna positions over 2 months, did the calls to hr weekly, kept filling out and calling and finally got an interview and was offered the job this monday!!!!! yippee!!!

persistance pays off!

at my interview they asked how i handle conflicts, what my strengths and weaknesses are, my career goals and personal goals. they asked what my worst experience was during my clinicals, (to which i answered "none") and how i felt during my clinicals taking care of people.

i was suprised at some of the questions but answered honestly to most!!:)

i didn't think they really wanted to hear my worst nursing home story!!:)

best of luck!!!
