Helloooo Nurse!
2 Posts
Hi guys, I'm attending a New Grad RN open house this weekend and I was wondering if any of you have had experience with these type of interviews. It's my understanding that you just kinda interview with all the different unit managers from which are hiring. Also, I'm horrible at interviews, mostly because I get so nervous. Any tips on the type of questions they might ask? Also, if you have any tips on the type of answers NOT to give I would so appreciate any help you can give me. I'm having such a hard time finding a job and I'm hoping this will be it!

I actually attended a new grad open house a month ago and my recommendation is be memorable. You will be in a room/ patio etc with about 100 potential nurses (at least in my case it was) and so its in your best interest to be memorable. My other recommendation is to use high quality paper for your resume/ CVA- at least this worked for me.
As for types of questions they will be geared towards:
1. As a new nursing graduate why would you like to be in the _____ field?
2. What do you feel differentiates you as a nurse?
So good luck with your interview :)

I just had an interview(for a medical floor) which I BOMBED...but hey if it helps you this is what I was asked
they asked me to prioritize, the difference btw left sided and right sided heart failure, what is COPD + tx options.
You know I'm in the same boat as you, I completly understand that you get nervous. (just make sure you take really great notes and what you did wrong + right) so you can improve.
GOOD LUCK

1. prepare your resume; print it on a good quality paper (good impression)
2. dress up tidy; no colorful nail polish; no low-cut or bright color
3. Smile smile and smile (good impression)
4. Be trueful when answering the question (my opinion) cuz that way you won't be as nervious as if you were making up a GOOD answer (they can feel it)
5. ASK yourself these questions before you go:
a. where do you see yourself in 5 years? (they wanna see if you'll leave soon after they train you)
b. what is your strength and weakness (simple and common question but many ppl don't know about themselves)
c. what is the one patient that you remember? someone that really stick to your mind? what happened? (from the answer they can get alot about YOU as a person, just be trueful when answering this)
d. have you made a mistake in rotation? how would u handle this today?
this maybe useful to you!
