Hi, I just joined today so I am very new to this. However, I do work in accident and emergency in the north.

I had a recent band 6 interview and I was asked:

My good and bad points

An example of decision making

Leadership skills

What clinical skills I could bring to the role

Why did I want the job, what skills did I have that would fit with the dept.

Look at specific stats for the dept we have care indicators to meet

These include unplanned returns

Pt left before being seen

Triage within 15 mins

Treatment within 60 mins

4hr breach times.

Look into the quality care commission and the Francis report 2010 as that set the bench mark for clinical governance (good to drop in).

A & E is not an easy place to work, you need to be motivated, a team player and thick skinned. You need to be resilient and stand your ground, but it is a very rewarding area to work in and I have loved my 5 years there. Hope that helps a little. Claire

Hello.

Just wondering if you could offer any tips. I've got an interview for band 6 in A&E coming up.

Any advice would be great. Thank you. ;-)
