Hi all,
I have an interview coming up in a couple of days for a per-diem IV RN position. I have 7 years experience as an ER RN and 11 years experience as a paramedic, so I am really comfortable with placing IO and peripheral IV; including EJs, although we hardly use that anymore with the ability to use IO on adults now. I have no experience inserting PICCs of course, but have accessed PICCs and ports enough. Do not have a lot of experience trouble shooting them though.
Any ideas on what questions I should ask? and what questions they may ask of me?
Thanks,
Annie

Will this position be in a Hospital, or Home Health? In Home Health, or Home Infusion, I would first ask what type of orientation would you be given? Home Infusion requires you to work with such autonomy that if you are unsure of how to proceed, think of how pensive your patient will be! You want enough one-on-one orientation so that once done, you can be assured that your patients won't be lacking in their environment. Home infusion patients need adequate support systems to work with the equipment and IV supplies/meds/solutions and some patients aren't candidates for home infusion.
Now if you are talking Hospital, there are many threads recently which review what your prospective role will be.
Whoops, my bad... It is in a hospital on an IV team.
Thanks for the info! After working on the ambulance for so long I have zero desire to go to people's homes as a nurse!
