Interview attire business casual q

I just found out from digging on the website that the potential hospital that I want states that dress for the interview should be business casual.

Perhaps that's the norm in healthcare, but I come from a background where suits were the norm for certain functions esp interviews.

So I'm determining that a suit (even though it's pants) would probably be too much, plus it would look like I can't read or did my research on them beforehand! If that's not true and suits are still acceptable please correct me.

My q is that I don't have any twinsets, or even cardigans w/o some sort of embellishments (delicate border beading) or else super casual w/hoods or longer with waist ties.

If I wear pants, can I wear a plain sweater (crew neck or turtle neck)? Or is that too casual? If I wear a blouse can it just be the blouse or do I need something over it?

Like I said, I don't have cardigans that are plain/professional and even other jackets that I have are either tailored leather or suede not just plain. Although I just remembered that I do have a tweed type jacket would that be a choice?

HELP!

Do you have the name and number of the person with whom you scheduled the interview?

I think it would be perfectly OK to call and ask to clarify what their "business casual" policy means, since this varies tremendously from one employer to the next.

Ask if a pantsuit is OK, or if pants and a turtleneck would be too casual.

As a manager, I would appreciate your attempt to clarify in advance.

Good luck!

Thank you Jolie!

Actually I have only gotten to the application stage, anticipating an interview call and just doing some research. I had already looked at their mission statement to see if it lined up with my goals (it does, it would be an amazing opportunity to work for this particular hosptial) so then I was searching for contact information to email for followup if I hadn't heard anything in a week or so. I happened across this info for interviewing etc...

I like to be prepared as much as possible. I know that posting postions is no guarantee that they are filling them at this time but I'm really hoping the freeze is starting to lift. I'm in a good area anyway and people/nurses keep telling me not to worry I shouldn't be much longer. So I'm trying to stay positive.

It's hard going from working 40hrs week, to full time student, to concentrating on the boards, to passing NCLEX-RN to waiting, I'm not used to this. Anyway thanks for the advice, I didn't realize I could just clarify with them when/if I get called.

I'd wear the suit. It can't hurt to look more professional, but it could hurt to look too casual. The "business casual" is probably lingo to deter folks from showing up for their interview in shorts and tube tops (trust me, it happens).

No to jeans. Absolutely no jeans.
