Hi my name is Kisa and I am a junior nursing student. I am looking for another student summer internship to apply to besides the Mayo clinic summer III program. I have been very unsuccessful finding anything with the help of books, internet and schoool staff. I am looking for a program like the mayo one where you are under another RN in an educational program and you get to do nursing skills and take care of patients, kinda like regular clinicals.
I would appreciate any info you can provide for me.
thanks,
Kisa

Try the web site for Northeastern University in Boston. Also, when I went there they did not have any co-ops (internships) 70 miles away and I made my own with my local hospital. why cant you do that?

I'min my last semester of nursing school and have been working as a nurse intern in a hospital since the end of the first semester. Most of the students in my nursing program do the same. All of the hospitals in my area offer some kind of position specifically for nursing students. With the exception of giving meds, I can pretty much do any of the skills, i.e., drsg changes, drawing blood, catheters, etc. I don't work under one specific RN, but whichever one is working the same shift that I am. I have all of these nurses as resources, am getting lots of experience, and getting paid at the same time! Why not contact a hospital near you and ask about a position like this? Good luck.

Thank you for your info. I go to school in laramie wyo and if you know anything about wyoming you konw that it is a small place. so anyway I really would like to go to a bigger place to get better experiences before i am out of school. I am not sure if the local hospital offers anything but I will check into it.
thank you for your insight.
