I've been applying to many many hospitals online.. and no, I have not done any internships or externships, but I have done a preceptorship. Is it considered outside work similar to internships and externships? I know that there are a lot of schools that participate in seniors doing preceptorships and there are also a lot of schools that do not. I want to make sure my preceptorship stands out. SO if the application asks me if I have done any outside work such as internships/externships, should I click yes?!
SORRY for such a dumb question!

What is the exact question on the application? I think that is the key. If it a general question that allows some "wiggle room," I would say "yes" and then be sure to explain exactly what experience you have -- stating clearly that it was unpaid work required for your school.
However, if the application asks whether you have experience beyond what was required for school, then you must answer "No" -- but try to include your preceptorship in your cover letter and highlight it in your resume.
While you are right to want to include it somehow ... one thing you definitely do NOT want to do is exaggerate it or lie in any way.
