Hello all,
I've posted up on here a few times and once again I am calling on your help.
I'm a student nurse studying at Liverpool John Moores University in England, UK. I'm wanting to spend my elective placement over in Vancouver namely on a surgical ward @ VGH.
I have been in contact with UBC, BCIT, Douglas College, BCNU, RNABC, CNPS and VGH too. However, I don't seem to be getting anywhere fast. My main problem at this point is getting a placement actually organised!! VGH keep referring me onto UBC who are unable/don't want to help me.
So this is why I'm calling on you guys, if you work at VGH do you know any contacts there I could email or perhaps work on a surgical ward and would be willing to take me on? Please guys if I don't get this major thing organised I'll have to cancel all my plans
Thanks in advance :)

In my experience, students always have to go through the clinical placement coordinator for the university in the area, and not through the hospital directly. What has UBC/Douglas/BCIT told you? Would it make a difference if you registered for a course through their school? Or are any other hospitals easier to get a placement for (like St Paul's or even BC Women's)?
