hello to all!:)

i would like to take this opportunity as a new user to this web site to introduce myself and say a little bit about me....

I have recently applied to train to become a nurse and wanted to find out as much a possible about the profession. Whilst surfing the net i came across this website and would like to say how much i have learned from it, i got a real insight to what its all about (the good and the bad!) and it has me even more determined to be a nurse.

I currently work in an office, spend my days answering phones and typing. I have done this type of job now for about 4 years and have always felt that i want to do more in life and my heart has never been in my job. But lately even more than ever the mudanesss (is that a word?) of my 9-5 job was really getting me down and i was feeling really frustrated , and i went through a stage of where i am going with my life and do i really want to be doing what im doing now for the rest of my working life? and the short and simple answer to that is no.

i want to do something that makes a difference, even if it is just a small difference to someone. So this is when i deceided that nursing was for me and im prepared to do what it take to achieve this.

Hopefully i will be offered a place, if not this year but next. But im going to give it my all, after all we only get one chance in life and im going to use this chance to do what i really want to do in life!

So, for the moment im going back to my 9-5 and waiting patiently to hear about my application (the words of that Dolly Parton classic really do ring true with me!)

So thats about it, i just wanted to say hi and voice my appreciation for this site.....

Bye for now!:)

I think that no matter what goal that you set for yourself in life, you will accomplish it.

Welcome Lisa!!

I really hope you enjoy your training, remember! a warped sense of humour should be a pre-requisite to nursing; well it can certainly help :chuckle Also, we are not obliged to like every one that we look after, but obliged to look after all those we don't. It's a real privelege to look after people, all the very best.
