I am an intenational student and have just completed a lpn course. Will I be able to get a sponsorship to work in Canada. Will there be a better chance for me if I do the NCLEX. (2) I was accepted as a transfer student to attend BCC to do RN. Will I even have a better chance to get a sponsorship to work in the USA or Canada.

US is under retrogression and has been since Oct 06 and LPN doesn't meet immigration criteria so you will not have a chance to look for a petitioner in the USA. Canada I think you may also have issues as generally RN is required but either way you will have to apply to a province in Canada and be assessed, then find an employer and that is when you may come across some problems. For either country I think you will have a better chance as a RN but be aware retrogression with the US may last several years and no way to change your status and stay to work

The Canadian Government in collaboration with the Jamaican Government is offering a LPN course in Jamaica. Do you think that after we have completed this course we stand a good chance of not just working there but getting our citizenship.

Citizenship for Canada takes years, there are a couple of routes to Canada, temp work permit which can be changed to PR once in Canada, PNP or applying for PR straight away. Each route has different time scales but think twp is the quickest

Thanks. the abbreviated words PR, PNP AND TWP what do they mean. I'm new to this forum also an international student so please take time with me.:wink2:

TWP= temp work permit

PR= Permanent residence

PNP= provincial nominee program

To become a citizen in Canada you have to live in Canada as a PR3 out of 4 years and any time spent outside of Canada is added
