Interim permit

I wonder if any of you can help me. I'm graduating on May 23rd and I've been offered a position in a new grad program that starts on June 9th. According to our Dean, historicallyy most of the students have gotten their IP at the end of June or beginning of July, which obviously will be too late.

I've called up the BRN, but I've been getting mixed information. Any suggestions on how I can get my IP in time?

In order to get the IP, you need to meet all requirements for licensure. And this only means that you have not written the NCLEX exam, but everything else is done. This is a very busy time for them, so you may find it easier to just get the exam done before you start.

If you are graduating from a program in CA, you can usually write the exam as soon as you finish and before they have even received your transcripts.

Would recommend that route for you, always best to get it done before starting the job.

Your chances of getting the IP within the two weeks is going to be slim to none, sorry to say. You may wish to phone them, but believe that they will tell you the same thing. That is why most new grad programs do not start until mid-July to August for this very reason.
