Intercultural communications essay- help!

Hey all, I need some ideas for my intercultural communications class. The assignment calls for a media story that illustrates a communications challenge. I don't watch TV and have not been following the news much lately (between a 3 year old who doesn't seem to need much sleep, a husband who travels a lot, a volunteer job, and FT classes, I don't have ANY spare time!)

So anyway, not asking for help in writing the essay, just looking for ideas that I can research further and write an essay about. I will be doing a short presentation on it as well. The assignment parameters are listed below. Thanks!

"Step I- Find and summarize (in a single page or so) a media story that somehow illustrates the challenges of international cross-cultural activities. If necessary, include extraneous information that can "flesh out" the circumstances of the story.

Step II - In 2 to 3 pages, write an analysis of the case you selected in Step I. What are the origins of the cultural differences that are at play, and how might you relate them to the text materials that we utilized in this class? NOTE: I want a very specific reference by chapter to at least one item covered in the textbook. Further, what are the adjustments that the parties made or might consider making to accommodate the preferences/interests of the other party so that a more comfortable/successful relationship can or could be maintained?"

Ugh, sorry about the weird formatting issues- no spaces between some words, no gaps between paragraphs. I copied & pasted from Word because I couldn't make a new paragraph typing directly in the box. What is the deal? Anyone else have this problem?

What examples did your professor use....

Try Google. Since these types of stories that tend to make the news involve injury, crime, and lawsuits, search using a certain cultural group and key words like "sue" "discrimination" "racism" etc.

For example, you might search "Muslim discrimination news" and see what comes up.
