Is there something similar to Malpractice to cover you, if your ever in a situation where your licenses may be on the line?

Most malpractice policies cover licensing issues as well, I believe statistically the likelihood of you being drug in front of the BON is MUCH more likely that being named in a lawsuit, but I may be wrong.

Are you talking about in the US? Most standard US professional ("") policies for nurses cover you (provide legal representation and pay any damages levied, up to the limit of your coverage) if you're sued in civil court for something you did in your professional capacity as a nurse, cover you (provide legal representation) if you have to appear before the state Board of Nursing to defend your license, and cover you (provide legal representation) if you're called as a witness in a malpractice case against someone else.

The latter two situations are much more likely to happen in the course of a typical nursing career than the nurse actually being sued her/himself.

Just make sure to check the policy before buying to ensure they do cover all that. A few do not.

Very true, in any situation.. I have had policies at different times with both the "main" nursing insurance companies (NSO and Marsh), and was covered for all I listed and more. There have been a number of individuals over the years who have posted here about carrying liability coverage as a rider on their homeowner's insurance. I don't know any of the details about how that works, but I wonder what range of coverage that would entail, when you're dealing with a company that doesn't specialize in covering nurses.
