I have been working as an FNP at a very small family practice for 8.5 months. Our practice is so small, that we contract with another medical office for billing, etc. Because we are not the main priority of this separate office, my insurance credentialing process has been placed on the back burner again and again. I am currently only fully credentialed with BCBS and all others are pending. Because I am not fully credentialed, I am only able to see patients one half day a week. All other days I am doing DOT physical at off sites. I am getting very burned out and frustrated. Two questions:
1) How long did it take you before you were fully credentialed? What is average?
2) Will another company hire me with some of my insurance contracts still pending?
Thank you! :)

Wow! They are not doing a good job. If your office is paying them to handle this, then they should be fired or sent a strongly worded letter. Just started a new job and it took 6 weeks to be all set up and ready to go. 4 weeks of that time was before I started. I've worked in a small single doc practice that had everything done in just a couple weeks.
