Inpatient dialysis new grad

So I'm graduating this week from NS and have accepted a job offer on an inpatient dialysis floor. Can anyone tell me what to expect as a new grad? I've been browsing threads on here, and it seems that most dialysis nurses have some sort of critical care experience prior to switching to dialysis. From what I understand so far I think I am the only new grad on this floor, and they hired only one last semester after not hiring any for quite a while. Any tips, advice, etc etc will be much appreciated! I'm hoping to make this a very good experience for the start of my nursing career. Thanks!

I graduated this year myself and started in October on a Renal/Dialysis floor. I am not sure if your floor is going to be like mine, but I hope you like stress. I work nights and we get a lot of admits. We are the step-down unit for the ICU & the catch all for the ED. We have really sick patients on our unit, so the nurses are always on their toes. But I can tell you....personally I think it is the best floor ever to start working on, because the amount you learn is unbelievable. If you can make it on this floor - you can make it anywhere! Just dont be intimidated, go in with an open mind, and if things seem crazy at first....I promise you they will get better! And once you are done with your preceptorship and are on your own....when you find your groove...there is no better feeling on this earth, because you know when you go home, you did your best and a lot of it :) (and you probably learned something new as well)
