Injured Early Career

Published

I was injured working at a hospital as a float nurse only about a year after graduating from my BSN. Now I have been out of the job and living with my parents for a while. I left my hospital on bad terms because of my injury, and am not sure what to do with my career. Bedside nursing isn't viable because of injured back and hip which prevent me from standing for long periods or lifting and pushing heavy objects. I have one good reference from a previous employer working with children with physical disabilities.

I entered nursing passionate about helping people and science. I loved my time as a student in my nursing placements and generally got good feedback from my preceptors. Now I am feeling really discouraged.

I would really appreciate any advice about what I can do to build a career and get myself out of this dark hole I feel that I have found myself in.

Thank you for reading.
