IV cyclizine time between doses

Firstly - hi to all as this is my first post 😃

IV cyclizine is normally written up PRN and dosing is written as TDS. I find this pretty non specific. Orally it can be given every 4-6 hours with a max dose of 150mg (so it's 50mg TDS).

A lot of the nurses on my unit get confused by this and refuse to give IV cyclizine unless 8 hours has passed (because it just says TDS they split 24h in to 3 - giving them 8 hours). However, if my patient complains again of nausea after let's say 5 hours I will happily give them another dose.

So I guess my question is - what is the minimum amount of time between doses of IV cyclizine?

An additional question - how quickly is the onset and what is the duration ? (I can find this information for oral (oral kicks in after around an hour and lasts around 4h - correct?) but not IV)

Many thanks.

What is TDS? Have never heard this acronym before.

It means three times per day. I think it stands for something in Latin. Sorry I assumed that was used all over the world.

No. In the US, we use TID (latin for "ter in die". What country are you in?

It's for "ter die sumendum". That's in the UK.
