I am in the process of deciding upon two vocational nursing colleges and would like some feedback on both. I noticed that Pacific College and Concorde College both have great pass rates and both have been in business for a long time; however, I like the fact that Pacific College has small classes (15) and is a little closer to me. Are there any recent graduates or current students that can provide some input? Thanks.

Hello-
I don't know that much about Concorde, but I would recommend Pacific College highly. I know quite a few graduates from there and have heard no negatives, just positives. My experience at Pacific College has been great.
I definitely feel that they prepare students well for their careers.

I graduated from Pacific College and I have to say this is a wonderful school that I learned so much from. The Instructors were just incredible and we had two different ones and both were outstanding. (I wish I had teachers like them when I was in High School). I have read some nonsense on here about Pacific College and lawsuits and teachers leaving but no one there seems to know anything about these allegations. Seems to be a couple of disgruntled students that failed and blame their failures on the school. This school cares about our success and teachers like Ms. M and Carolyn are a credit to this school. God bless Pacific College, they helped me change my life. Check the BON for pass results and you will see for yourself the end results in what matters most, passing the exam!

Concorde is a good college, but classes are large. I would recommend Pacific College. They have great instructors (some have been there for years).....Tutoring is always available if you need it and the State Board Review is awesome. They also start new classes almost every month.
I know I have learned alot!!!!

I know what you mean. I met with Patty in admissions (nice lady, btw) and most of the allegations you hear seem absolutely false. I've heard of some schools being shady, but they can't really lie to a direct question regarding specific numbers (not if they don't want to get sued and shut down, anyway). Some people are caliming there's a mass exodus of teachers, for one, but when ashed directly about this, I was told that 75% of the instructors have been there 5 years or more. Also, I asked specifically how many students enrolled last year, how many graduated, and how many passed their board exam, and it was a significant number [100+, I dont remember the exact number](again, specific number, not just percentage). Patty didn't know offhand, but got the information from someone within about 5 minutes. If we're going by the numbers, then a lot of the more serious allegations don't seem like they CAN be true. For example, if they fail students left and right for the slightest reason, then how can 80% of the students who started the program actually graduate and be able to take their boards? And if they havge such horrible teachers, then how do 90% of those students that graduated and took their board exam pass? (currently 90%, 86-89% orver the past 3 or 4 years).
I'm aware that no school is perfect, and I'm not claiming that pacific is all sunshine and lollipops. I'm sure I'm going to run into plenty of things that annoy me, but thats not the same as being a terrible program thats completely unfair to students. I think the people making these kind of claims are either lazy or incompetent and need look no further than a mirror to find the reason why they failed.
I agree with you completely. I asked the school about these postings claiming lawsuits and teachers leaving as well.
I was told that there were no lawsuits ever filed and that the teachers that I had had been there for like 5 years.
The pass rate is impressive and I can add my name as I passed on the first attempt. Everyone in my class of 29 passed on the first try. I would be more concerned about that than these bloggers who seem to have an axe to grind.
I agree that they need to look in the mirror and they will see what is wrong with the program. It's the person looking back that is to blame. Everyone that started my class finished and it was not easy, no one said it would be easy. They said it would be worth it and damn they are right!
I also got a job right away and I have more than doubled my hourly rate only now I have benefits and I love what I am doing. I am working and there is a demand for LVN's so I got to pick where I wanted to work as I had two offers. Last year at this time, I was really feeling hopeless and now I feel like I did something to really better myself and my kids (2).
No school is perfect, this one is definitely caring and professional. I like the small classes and the tutoring was incredible. They care about us! They want us to succeed and I certainly did.
