Information for a CNA and college student planning on moving to Georgia.

Published

Hi!

I was wondering about CNA jobs and colleges in Georgia mostly around the Atlanta area. I'm from Ohio and I am a STNA or CNA. I don't really have experience. I have attended a community college so I plan on transferring to a college down there. I and my mom plan on moving down there sometime in like a couple months for my mom's health and some personal reasons. I was wondering what the job market is like for CNA's. Some helpful job search sites or maybe even some places I could apply to. Any information about employment would be awesome. I was also wondering about colleges for nursing any information. Due to some family problems I had to take a year off from college. I'm taking a few generals as online classes I'm still pre-nursing. Any information about jobs, colleges, or anything about moving to Georgia would be great. Thank you very much. :)

Hi Betty,

The job market for CNAs in Atlanta seems pretty good. I don't know anyone that's had a problem finding work. My husband just completed his CNA class last week and had an interview the next day. He still hasn't taken the certification exam, so I was pleasantly surprised by him getting bites already.

So far as where to look for jobs, I would try websites like Indeed, Craigslist, and job listings on individual facility websites.

For nursing schools you can find a list of approved programs on the Georgia Board of Nursing website for ADN/BSN and higher: http://sos.ga.gov/PLB/acrobat/Forms/38%20Reference%20-%20Nursing%20Education%20Programs.pdf

or for LPN programs:

I hope that helps!

Thank you so much for all the help. :) That is pretty quick for an interview. Where I live now places won't even consider you until you have taken the state test. I was a little worried about the job market, but hearing this makes me feel better. I never even thought of checking the Georgia Board of Nursing site. Thank you again. :)

You're welcome! It seemed incredibly quick to me too. I've heard that since CNAs are predominately female that men are often in demand, especially in home health care. Some men are often more comfortable with other men due to the nature of some of work that needs to be done (bathing, bathroom assistance, etc.). But like I said, I haven't heard of female CNAs having a hard time finding work either. Good luck with your move and job search. Atlanta's a great place to live. :)
