I am almost a brand new CNA state exam 3-2, In Rhode Island once you finish the course you get a temp license good for 120 days.
Put an application in one place, and they needed the regular stuff, copy of license, etc, and a copy of my birth certificate. I guess I had sort of an interview as she told be about being on time, etc.
Is asking for a birth certificate normal??????
Also while I have your ear. That job would be 2nd shift, and I work for a home health care company 5 days a week 8 AM to 1 PM, The job would be 3 days 3 to 11 and every other weekend. (They hire with temp. license)
Then the job I really want is with another nursing home, but they don't hire with temp license, they have flex shifts 4- 9 PM which will work well for me and I would not be to tired..
I have not been offered a position on the first job 3 - 11, but I almost positive I will be offered it.
I want to decline it, because I want the 4 to 9 place.
What would be a good explanation on why I can't start right away. I don't want to burn my bridges.
And the RN from the flex job told me not to worry that there would be position still available after I passed my state exam..
State Exam: It will be my 2nd time for the skills, passed the written, so I am going over those 24 skills every free moment I have.
Plus I am not 21 any longer I am 55. but feel 21 a lot of the time
Your thought and insights are most welcomed.
Thank you all in advance.

I don't understand why they would be asking for the birth certificate of someone who is 55. Do they think you would lie about a thing like being 55?
I did not think of that, My husband said they could look at it, but not have a copy as you never know where that will end up.
I just was wondering if all nursing homes ask for that
No employer has ever asked for my birth certificate, except maybe the military but I sure don't remember. I could see why they would have wanted it, to go along with my parents signature on the dotted line, because I was only 17.
I have a sort of into with the flex shirt RN on Tues, and I will ask her if they require it.
I am going to hold the other place off, as I need so test from my PCP, and I will just say can get an appointment for 3 weeks.
