Hi,
I was wondering if anyone active duty or reserves has had any opportunities in nursing informatics. I have an IT background and have been a cardiac nurse in a civilian hospital for a few years. I'm looking for a way to combine my love of technology and health care. My recruiter mentioned it could be a possibility.
I was looking at AD at first in the army nurse corps but with my family situation, becoming a reservist might work better for my marriage as the husband loves his job and would like to advance in his company. We have a child as well.
I'm a BSN from a military family. Tradition! I worked at the VA and I love taking care of our soldiers.

There are nurses that work in that capacity.. but its not something you can just select as a specialty... you'd have to be OK with the chance of NOT doing that...
that being said if you are looking at the reserves I'd simply as to see what units are in your area, work with your recruiter to make sure you meet qualifications and then schedule an appt with the unit commander to discuss whether their mission and your goals are in alignment so you get an idea of what your job capacity could be after they see your desires and skills and compare with their needs / mission.
