Hi everyone!
I was curious if there were any Navy Nurse Corps Officers on here that lived in San Diego and could recommend some apartment or condo properties for me to check out when I get there at the end of August. I go to ODS next week and will arrive in San Diego the last week of August and a little overwhelmed right now with looking at the choices of rental properties on the internet and such. Is there any recommendations that you all might be able to give me? I am looking for a 2BR/2BA as it will be myself and my girlfriend that will be moving out there. Prefer something in my BAH but I am flexible with that. Any help is greatly appreciated!! I am so excited to be working at the Naval Medical Center out there!

Congrats! My younger brother is Navy enlisted, assigned to San Diego. It's a beautiful place- I'm sorta jealous. Anyways, he works on a ship not too far from your new job. He opted to utilize a military housing program- I don't believe he sees any of his BAH... it all goes to Lincoln Military Housing. http://www.lincolnmilitary.com/Installations/naval-complex-san-diego/
But if you're looking to save some of that BAH, there's still apartments nearby where he lives... off of Rosecrans St and Laning Rd... sorta by Point Loma. There's a Trader Joe's/grocery/shopping nearby... literally in walking distance. His place is a 2 bedroom/ 1.5 bathroom, and it's beautiful, but pricey! He also is married and gets that extra BAH... but as an officer, you'll be fine, I'm sure. :)
I think he lived in La Jolla, but I don't know where. If all else fails, I used an apartment guy to help find a place for myself, and I'm sure San Diego has people like that there too. Or, check out the housing office. Sometimes they have resources available.
Good luck! I wish I was PCS-ing to San Deigo. :)
Thank you very much for the reply annabeap! You don't by chance know the names of the apartment complex that is on Rosecrans and Laning Rd do you? I wish I could do the military housing but unfortunately I am not married yet or have a child. Thank you for the good info in some areas to look in. I am very excited to be heading there for my first duty station!!
I don't know of any names... but I'll see what my brother says. Point Loma is so nice! But I know when we would walk around and there were private housing units that had signs for rent.
I found Gables.com was an apt community more north towards sea world...
Good luck at ODS! Don't stress out about housing! I'm pretty sure you'll have time/house-hunting days when you get there. And I'm almost positive you'll meet other people heading that way that might have done some research too. :)
You know, you could try calling Lincoln Military Housing and just ask if they have anything for single officers. Or they might be able to direct you to a comparable apartment community.
Annabeap thank you again for you info. You are right I need to stop stressing about the housing right now. I'm sure it will fall into place once we arrive there. Thank you for some of the suggestions and I will surely be looking into them.
