Hello, I'm interested in the infectious nursing program for nursing students. I may be going back to school after several years (I am in my early 40's). Any suggestions and what is the average payrate? What schools are good for this specialty?

According to your posting history, I think you haven't gone to any nursing school yet, is that correct?
Every nursing program includes Infection Control (not infectious lol although some days I wonder) as a part of the curriculum. No US nursing program allows a student to study for a certain specialty, we all graduate as "generalists". You won't find a school that is "good for the specialty".
Once you are through nursing school and have a license to practice you can always work on a certification in Infection Control. That will be years from now, so your focus needs to be on getting into (and out of!) school. Pay is what an RN makes wherever you are going to be working, geography matters, like it always does. You can work as an Infection Control nurse as a specialty once you've earned those credentials, and by then you'll know what the pay might be in your region.
