My patient is 2 days post op and has not had a bowel movement. He had a hemicolectomy. can I relate Decreased peristalsis to Ineffective tissue perfusion:GI

Maybe, but only if you have further data to back that leap up. Is the patient passing gas?, how are the bowel tones? If no flatus is happening and bowel tones are hypoactive of absent I would be thinking along the lines of obstruction and paralytic ileus. If bowel tones are there and fairly normal and gas is being passed, they may simply be constipated. (Narcotics, immobility and earlier NPO status as the probable cause). When was there last BM, what is their usual pattern of BM's? Need more assessment info before you can really proceed.
