induced labor nursing diagnosis

Published

Hi,

I need help creating a nursing diagnosis for my OB patient. She is a prima gravida who is 40 weeks, she was induced because they thought the baby had an irregular heart beat, according to the monitor he doesn't. She is receiving pitocin for the contractions and penicillin G because she tested positive for group strep B. The only thing i can come up with is risk for maternal injury r/t response to therapeutic interventions (pitocin).

Could patient have allergies to penicillin?

Sorry, I don't even start my nursing program yet, so disregard if I've said nonsense

Pitocin has a side effect of edema and retaining fluids. Maybe something with too much fluid retention?
