I wanted some information on this online school. I have been following this place for awhile and wanted to know if anyone is currently attending, has attended, or will be attending this online school. Thank You
Hey thank Ladyinscrubs. Very informative. So I don't have any of the books. I checked on Ebay and never see them. Anyone selling the phase 1 books to test out before going into program?
I doubt you will find the ISU/TCN challenge books online--they are ebooks. Unless someone paid extra for the hard cover books the are only available on line.
Instead, get a good RN Nclex book that has rationales and topic study guides (cost about $30+). Lippincott has a series of books. The title starts with "How to get A's in....." Those books are excellent study guides; while they do not give you many nclex questiosn, use the NCLEX study guide for that. If you have any nursing books that cover the same topics as the challege courses, they are useful too.
I woudl also get a RN NCLEX review book that has rationales as well as review chapters. You need the experience answering question--and they may show up on the test. You have it covered with the review books and the NCLEX book with review chapters, questions and rationales and you will pay a fraction of what it will cost you from TCN.
Hi LadyinScrubs,
Thanks so much for all the info. It took me forever to find someone actually enrolled in the school. I've recently submitted my application and sent out for my transcripts and I can't wait to get started. I do have 3 more gen ed classes to take but I plan on doing that w/ Ivy Tech this summer, since a lot of schools here won't have a summer session.
I also live in California and I feel like with all the changes going on I'd better enroll myself in this wonderful program before California decides to take them off their board website like excelsior, and the other 2 colleges that WAS approved for RN to BSN online.
Thanks again and Congratulations !!!
College Network representative told me that with my B.S. degree, all my prereq's were good for life including my microbiology prereq taken 10 years ago. Is that really true for ISU?
I was a pre nursing BSN student in the past so I had all prereq taken, but I changed my major, graduated and later went to a community college to get my LPN, but classes like Anatomy and Microbiology, my grades are only good for 5 years in order to gain entry into their LPN or RN programs. I was surprise to here ISU dont regulate how long ago prereq's were taken.
You were told the correct information. If you have all the prerequisites--it makes it even nicer that you have a previous bachelors--and seek to enter the LVN/LPN to BSN prorgram, there is no time limit on the classes.
If you have a pathophysiology class from a community college, that is also transferrable; if not, you can take it at a local community college, through TCN, another online accredited communnity college, or from ISU. Patho can be taken before you enter the program or in the second semester. From what I understand, every first semester class cannot take classes the next semester. That is the time when other non nursing classes can be taken. I believe the 2nd semester enables ISU to get the paperwork for the clinicals authorized. The 3rd semester is when clinicals begin.
You do not need to rely on the TCN "sales" person for information about the ISU program; all the information you need is on the ISU LVN/LPN to BSN website.
Hi Ladyinscrubs,
Well, I thought about the program and I think I may apply. ? Do I have to complete a AS degree before applying to ISU. I'm a few classes short of an AS degree and thought it would be easier to apply. I looked at Ivy Tech Community College to finish my classwork for ISU. I also emailed ISU today to get more on the program. I want to start asap.
Thanks
