Hey everyone!

I'm applying for the Fall 2021 start of the LPN to BSN program at ISU. My question for those of you who were accepted already is, what were your science grades and Kaplan score? I recently retook my Excelsior A&P and increased my grade from a C to a B, which made my science GPA move from a 3.1 to a 3.5. My Kaplan score is 85. I just hope it's enough! Good luck to all of you who are applying this go around and in the future!!

Would love to hear if you were accepted!!

Hi were you accepted to ISU?  I am trying to find out all the information I can about the LPN to BSN program but have never actually seen posts with many people who have completed or started the program.

Hello!

I think their application cycle ends 9/1 but I was accepted into a different program that’s local.

Yes, accepted and in my second to last term for the program now :-)

How do you go about scheduling for the clinicals?  I heard that is the hard part.

So we have a form we fill out with 3 clinical sites that we would like to go to. For each clinical site you have to have contact information for the person at their facility who approves the student and sets them up with a preceptor. So their name, phone number, and email. This is the long part, all the calling and tracking down of said person. Also, hope they are taking students at that point. After you turn in the form with three clinical sites, you wait for the response if any of them accepted you. It's happened twice now where all 3 of my sites were not accepting students or had filled up already.

Hi Shay LPN! I am currently enrolled with ISU Pre-LPN to BSN starting the process and looking to set up my Kaplan test soon! I have an advisor phone conference set for tomorrow which I’m looking forward to getting some of my questions answered! ?

Congratulations to you on your acceptance into the program!! I hope all is going well!! My question for you, is I’d love to know how it’s been going for you so far!!? Anything you greatly dislike or wish you knew prior to starting this program? Any of your insight is greatly appreciated!
All the best to you with your LPN to BSN journey with ISU! And Happy New Year!

Hi, I'm looking at applying to the lvn to BSN program online (I live in texas). Now that some time has passed, would you recommend the program? With clinicals being set up on our own, how is the schedule[3x week, consecutive days, grouped all together, etc]? Do you happen to know how competitive acceptance is? Thank you for any information!

Hello,

I actually got accepted into a different program that is local so I wouldn't be able to tell you about the ISU program but someone I know that did ISU did say that finding her own clinical sites was a challenge. I wish you the best of luck with everything!

EqualNurse LPN,

I hope your phone conference went well! I love the ISU LPN-BSN program. I think the only thing I don't like is there is no in person teaching, or rarely any. It feels impersonal for the amount of work we are expected to do. It is difficult to get all of your work done while having a job and other life obligations like kids. Having to wait for a reply to an email for help can be a little stressful. However, the instructors are very helpful. It's just a difficult program to keep up with, but worth it! Good luck in your BSN endeavors!

NurseLeah22,

I would still recommend the program. You learn the material you need to learn, but try not to procrastinate! I am a procrastinator and it will eventually come back to get you. The program is competitive, I'm not for sure but I believe they accept 30-40 students twice per year.  They highly favor good science grades in conjunction with the score of your entrance Kaplan exam. Clinicals are a pain but not terrible. You make the schedule with your preceptor from the facility that you are paired with. You have to turn in 3 different places that could possibly work for your. But you have to call and get a contact name, number, and email of the person that the ISU clinical coordinator would get in contact with. The school also has some pre-approved placed to go to, but you'd still need to call and get all the information, which can sometimes be a pain in the butt. Good luck with everything!
