Indiana State LPN-BSN Program

Hi everyone!

Is anyone going to the Indiana State University LPN to BSN program? I noticed they have 3 clinical sites, one at Bridgeport Hospital, VA Hospital in West Haven, and one in Torrington. I am trying to get Griffin to participate, but when they called Bridgeport Hospital, they were told Bridgeport didnt know anything about being a clinical site. I called the VA myself, and am waiting for a respond. I also called the ISU to see what they have to say. I kinda want to believe the sites as some schools can be just sales people on their programs. I wanted to know if anyone in CT is going to ISU or even considering it. I just cant go full time at this time for my RN and ALL of the programs are full time. I called Bridgeport school of nursing and they dont accept online science classes. They did, but then HCC barked about it according to the director.... that knocked me out of the box there, since I have quite a few online classes under my belt. St vincent's is just too expensive, as is Goodwin, and the CC do not have parttime programs for the LPN's. I could do Excelisor, but frankly its hard to get a job with that degree if you are not already employed there. (this coming from my hospital nursing director, and her having her ear to the ground about "that degree") They seem more receptive about ISU because it is a brick and mortar school, but no one wants to commit to the clinical portions. The party line here at Griffin is it would tie up a RN for 8 hours straight "babysitting" the student. That was not the way it was explained to me, but since ISU doesn't really have a clear expections of the clinical site on the web, Admin just fills in the blanks with their own expectations, which they feel they cant accomandate. Feeling a little frustrated.

Okay, I have a quick update. Indiana State called me back like hours after posting this.... but time got the best of me getting back to you all... and told me that the VA is a site and clinicals have been done at Bridgeport hospital. I called the VA to confirm, and its true. The VA had an excellent experience withe Indiana State and will be happy to do it again. Bridgeport Hospital called me back and told me that the person who signed the contract is no longer there, they went to Yale and they dont know a lot about the program. I was okay with the VA, so it was all good. I have finally finished my LPN, and will be going on to the LPN to BSN with indiana, since I have to work and cant just do another year or two without full time employment. Has anyone in CT gone this route? Let me know.
