I have been looking for a CNA job since August and just had my 2nd interview today, I was pretty much told I got the job and of course I am excited, but apart of me is slightly disappointed. It is only 3 days a week (with full time potential) so I will have to keep my minimum wage retail job that I was really looking forward to finally leaving after almost three years of being there and it is Independent Living, my main job would be to unlock their medicine box and remind them to take them, watch certain residents in the shower so they don't slip and doing laundry.
They don't even have nurses there, so this kind of threw me off.I had a tour of the place and looked at some apartments and it just reminded me of a hotel. On their website it says they do memory care,skilled nursing and rehab care but I guess those are in different buildings. I really like the "medical" aspect of being a CNA and I don't think I will be using any of my CNA skills at this place. As much as I am excited to be getting a job in this field finally, it is also kind of disappointing since it isn't what I expected.

Consider it a foot in the door. Many places will let you internally transfer after six months, so see if that is the case at your new employer. Put in whatever time you have to and then start applying for internal transfers.

That should have been a question I asked about, but it being independent really threw me off. I didn't apply for a specific job, I just emailed my resume and they asked me to come in so I had no idea what the job was really for. I am just worried future jobs may not even consider it real experience of being a CNA
