Independent living or hospital CNA?

Published

I got two job offers as a CNA, should I take the hospital or independent living? What do CNAs do at independent livings ???

Specializes in CNA.

I got my Clinicals training at a Nursing Home. And this is what I saw that the CNA did.

1-They got a number of patients assign for the day.

2-Make sure to take each of your patients Vital Signs.

3-assist with they're ADL,Food, shower, shave, and something else they need.

4-Make sure to check who is attending Mass, Bingo etc..they must be ready and out of bed by 11:00 am

5-Make they're beds.

6-document Ins & Outs.

I think that's it. It doesn't seem like much to do when you only got like 3-4 patients. But when the nursing home is short on staff or they're the building is too much to the capacity of it, you may be assign any where from 5-8 patients per day.. It all depend of the place you will be working at.

Like where I was trained the CNA only got 3 patients.

But where my sister was trained they got 8 patients per ea CNA

That's a big difference... I hope this helps you, But I will suggest you to just got by your instincts or just go check both places before you make a decision. Good Luck!

I check the independent living and I had to do their laundry. I kept the hospital job because they just oppend and they needed a lot of help. I was ablet to pick from a list of units where I wanted to work. Sweet!

I got to be one of the firts CNAs to work at that hospital. Did I say sweet??
