Hello. I am a new nurse who has been working at my hospital for 6 months. My job offers an shift incentive pay usually $9-$12/hr. I am just curious on how this works with overtime pay. Does the incentive pay get added onto the overtime rate? Can someone explain? Thanks.

Usually it is added on separately and not included as a base for the overtime rate. Scenario: $30 base = $45 overtime rate. If you worked premium (incentive hours) on overtime it would be $45/hr + $9 (for example) to equal $54/hr.
Oh ok. Makes sense! Thanks for the clarification!
