Importance of current drug guide

Published

Hello! Hope I put this in the right forum if not I apologize. I was wondering if I should purchase the current (14th edition) of the Davis Drug Guide for nursing school? I start on the 18th and I currently have the previous edition (13th) and I am not sure if I should purchase the new one or not. Thank you in advance.

I just ordered mine. My school recommended the 13th edition, but they put in parentheses "(or the most current edition)". I just got the 13th edition. Should I have purchased the latest one?

I had a hard time deciding which one to get as well.

It never hurts to get the latest edition if you are going to purchase one. You can always wait until class starts and ask your instructor if the older edition is acceptable.

Some people in our class use older editions and it doesn't seem there is much difference.

Thank you for your responses. I heard back from my instructor and she said I should be fine with my older edition. Whew!!! Not like I was dying to buy more books. Lol!

Unless you're dealing with a new drug, which is unlikely, it makes no difference.

For all the stuff that you're going to give (Lasix, Coreg, Zithromax, lisinopril, atenolol, etc), the entries are identical.

Don't waste your money on 14 v. 13.

(If you're into that sort of thing, it's not impossible to find free copies floating about on the web...)
