Implications of Male Nurse stereotyping in nursing and in society at large?

Published

This is a question for anybody who can help point me in the direction of some peer-reviewed articles discussing relevant information on the topic of gender issues in nursing. I am stuck on finding articles covering the implications on nursing of stereotyping male nurses, as well as the implications on society at large. If anybody can please help me ASAP it would be SO much appreciated. Also, feel free to send me a private message. Thank you so much!!!!:)

Hi there!

Have you looked at your school's library for articles? When I went to school I was able to log on and search through nursing journals, e.g. CINAHL.

If you are not sure...just ask your librarian and I am sure they will be more than willing to show you how.

Thanks....we have looked (myself and librarians) still struggling...you would think that they would have more information on the topic. We have found much information on the topic...none specifically relating to the implications on nursing and society :( thanks though!

Hi there!

Thanks for letting me know that you have tried. Sometimes people post looking for help on this site and really what they are asking is for us to do their homework. I found 3 articles via CINAHL. However, I can’t post them or send them to you because of copyright issues and log on information from my college. But I feel that it is OK if I provide you the citations and then maybe your librarian can help. I am not totally sure if these are all that helpful because I don’t have the time to read them. But I figure it might point you or the librarian in the right direction.
