my best friend is on immuran for auto-immune hepatitis (we are hoping she can come off it long enough to have a baby w/o a flare-up)

HOWEVER - if she can't - have you all heard of any problems w/ newborns or children after being born to mothers on this med?

the doc's are telling her there "usually" aren't problems - not enough info for preg. class..... just curious - she is very worried about any injury it may cause immediately or in the future...

any info you have would be helpful

Pregnancy--Use of azathioprine is not recommended during pregnancy. It may cause birth defects if either the male or the female is using it at the time of conception. The use of birth control methods is recommended. If you have any questions about this, check with your doctor.
