Immunosuppresssion precautions versus neutropenic precautions

Published

Hello everyone! I am beginning my last RN-BSN class which involves a capstone project. I am thinking on doing mine on immunosuppression precautions versus neutropenic precautions. If I'm correct some immunosuppressed individuals need reverse isolation. The same precautions are sometimes applied to these two different diagnoses and I have started the search for academic articles, experiences and resources related to this topic. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I've never heard of "immunocompromised precautions". If immunocompromise as defined by an ANC below a certain level then neutropenic precautions are indicated.

We do protected environment, which is needed if ANC is

I don't think we have specific precautions for non-neutropenic patients on immunosuppressive drugs, besides a private room. The provider can also order a low microbial diet or a protective environment room if they feel it's necessary.
